rodney-strong-logo-white-background-hi-res (1)For the ninth straight year, Rodney Strong Vineyards continues its support of the wine blogging community via the Wine Bloggers Scholarship Fund.  Specifically, Rodney Strong sponsors the Rodney Strong Wine Blogger Scholarship, which assists up-and-coming bloggers that display quality, quantity, consistency, and a community spirit in their work.

This year, Rodney Strong has gone above and beyond, in supporting the Rodney Strong Scholarship but also by supporting #winelovers against cancer and providing a supplemental scholarship grant via their sponsorship of 100% natural recycled cotton canvas swag bags.  Cancer is close to Chris’ heart, and we are thrilled to have his support this year.

Be sure to stop by the Scholarship booth at Friday’s Expo Lunch and pick up bag, complete with Rodney Strong swag!  If you want to augment your experience, a donation to the scholarship will also provide you with a loaded bag full of fun WBC goodies you are sure to enjoy for years to come.  Stay tuned for more fun from Rodney Strong at #wbc16!13709760_10153849632148434_6689562739989999957_n

Amanda Barnes, of Around the World in 80 Harvests, is the recipient of the 2016 Rodney Strong Wine Blogger Scholarship.  Last year, Matt McGinnis was the inaugural recipient of this very special grant.

Founded over 50 years ago, Rodney Strong Vineyards is a family owned winery that grows and produces wines exclusively from Sonoma County grapes. The winery was the 13th bonded winery in the country, and it aspires to conserve and protect the environment through sustainable practices, solar power, and fish friendly farming.

This year, Chris O’Gorman, newly appointment Director of Communications for Rodney Strong, will be representing the winery in Lodi. Be sure to say hello to Chris and the Rodney Strong team!

“I’m super excited to attend my first WBC, meet new and established digital influencers, and attend the fun excursions and seminars,” says Gorman.  “I’m sure this will be the first of many!”

We are excited to have your continued support, and look forward to seeing you in Lodi!

Rodney Strong Vineyards
The wine business has always been about relationships.  Over the last 8 years, as I have been to the Wine Bloggers Conference, Robert Larsen of Rodney Strong Vineyards has shown this in spades.  Once again, in 2015, Rodney Strong has stepped up to the plate and continued to support the Wine Bloggers Conference Scholarship Fund with the formation of the Rodney Strong Wine Blogger Scholarship.

Rodney Strong has always been intimately involved with bloggers, and the Bloggers Conference, reaching out and building relationships that have lasted.  Through unique experiences, tastings, and great group events, Robert and his team have built social awareness through friendship and fun.  That’s the way to do social kids!  Did I mention that they throw great events?  I highly recommend that you stop by the winery if you are in Healdsburg, and check out some of the great options – like the newly opened Terrace, food some great food & wine treats.

Scholarship Recipient: Matt McGinnis

Matt McGinnis wants to know What You Are Drinking!  Writing for the last 5 years, he continually strives to improve the quality of his blog and is excited to be joining us in the Finger Lakes for the Wine Blogger’s Conference.  His blog, What Are You Drinking, explores the everyday adventures of life, paired with delicious drinks.  Matt likes to dive in to the people along with the drinks, and spends a great deal of time interviewing brewers, distillers, and wine makers to share with his readers.

Matt is also a Certified Sommelier, and often judges beverage competitions.  Recognized as a Top 10 Food Blogger in 2013 and 2014 by the Austin Chronicle, we are lucky to have Matt join us in the Finger Lakes!  As a self-employed consultant (hrmm sounds familiar), he is excited to be selected as the Rodney Strong Vineyards Wine Blogger Scholarship winner of 2015, which will enabled him to join us for the Wine Bloggers Conference.

A prolific writer & contributor to several online publications, Matt gets around town and has really made a name for himself over the last 280 blog posts (5 years).  I look forward to reading more and meeting him in person in August!

Please stop by and say hi to Matt!

Corporate Donor Profile: Rodney Strong’s Dynamic Duo

_MG_1729Robert Larsen public relations guru extraordinaire, director of communications for Rodney Strong Vineyards and emcee of the winery’s blending events.  Robert Larsen has been a friend of the Wine Blogger’s Conference since the beginning, missing only one year (Editor’s Note:  sorry you’re still not a veteran!) in the 8 year history.  He’s known for providing great wines, hosting ‘must attend’ after parties and being an all around great guy to be around.

He’s been in the PR industry since the early 90s in the wine industry.  Robert is born and bred in northern California’s wine country. and is all about the discovery and development of a genuine message that makes a story resonate.  He’s also a home winemaker, gardener and cook.

Together with his partner in PR crime, Rachel Voorhees, erstwhile Social Media Manager for Rodney Strong, mommy blogger, and somm, these two make a powerful duo that spread the message of Rodney Strong’s brands and history.
