Donor Profile: Another Wine Blog’s Amy & Joe

Amy & Joe Power are a super duo in wine blogging.  He is a rocket scientist.  Really!  OK fine, a space station webmaster but close enough.  She is an attorney.  Together, they write Another Wine Blog.

While most wine books and sites claim that they want to demystify wine, Amy & Joe try to keep the secrets and intrigue their readers, while providing informative, funny, engaging posts to their audience – who are wine geeks, wine neophytes, and wine snobs.

Amy grew up without wine – how sad!  But she quickly fixed that when

attending law school.  Did I mention she’s also obsessed with football?  I would expect Amy to be able to pair wine with pigskin, as well as any other meal.

Joe is father of two and a web designer, which pays all of those pesky wine bills.  At night, he cooks, drinks and writes. Another Wine Blog reflects his passion for wine and food as well as the fact that he can spout his opinions ad nauseum for everyone (no one?) to hear.
Born and raised in Toledo, Joe lives in Houston with Amy, and completed International Sommelier Guild Wine Fundamentals I & II courses at the University of Houston.  Slightly disturbingly, he thinks lifting weights is “fun.”  I’m not sure who the better cook is between the two but I’d love to find out!
Amy & Joe have been great supporters of the WBC Scholarship and the WBC – and have proudly earned their Veteran status (having attended all 4 previous conferences and planning on arrive in PDX in a few short weeks).
We thank you crazy kids for your ongoing support, and look forward to seeing you soon!

  1. Thank you for your nice write up! I must assure you Joe is the much better cook, since he attended culinary school and my instruction was limited to a high school semester of “Holiday Foods & Crafts.” We like to give help give as many bloggers as possible the chance to attend the Wine Bloggers Conference. WBC helps develop a great since of community, as we always learn at least 1 thing new when we attend (like drXeno is a very friendly guy despite the spiked mohawk he sported in 2008). But the best part is seeing all of the other bloggers, many of whom have become some our dearest friends!

  2. 2 of my favorite bloggers to work with on TasteLive.com! I can always count on Amy or Joe producing some frilly comparison to velvet ropes and cabernet or some such stuff. Best wishes as you hit the WBC trail and maybe a pit stop in Sonoma County?
    Cheers!
